A connection segment (6) of the measuring element connects the contact segment to a temperature sensor (9) spatially distanced from the measurement object. The temperature sensor directly or indirectly measures the temperature of the contact segment, particularly the temperature of the connection segment. Depending on this measurement result, the temperature of the measuring electrode and/or the temperature of the counter electrode is determined and optionally controlled.
