In one example, the redox flow battery system includes an electrolyte storage tank having a first chamber and a second chamber, and a mixing valve fluidically coupling the first chamber to the second chamber. The mixing valve may be selectively opened according to predetermined duty cycles to allow exchange of electrolyte between the first chamber and the second chamber.
