An example method may include transmitting, to a network node, information associated with a first quantity of effective downlink transmit (Tx) antennas associated with the UE. The example method may further include receiving, from the network node, a transmission indicative of a set of precoding functions for a set of Tx antennas associated with the network node, where each precoding function of the set of precoding functions is associated with a respective group of multiple Tx antennas of the set of Tx antennas associated with the network node, and where a second quantity of precoding functions is smaller than or equal to the first quantity of the effective downlink Tx antennas. The example method may further include receiving, from the network node, a second transmission based on the set of precoding functions.
