Hydrocarbon carboxylic acids, esters, alcohols and ethers containing from 12 to 17 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon backbone chain and alkyl or alkylidene substituents at the C-7 and C-11 and/or double bond unsaturation between C-2,3 and/or C-5,6 or C6,7 or C-7,8 and/or C-9,10 or C-10,11 or C-12,13 and/or fused groupings bridging positions C-2,3, C-6,7, C-10,11 are useful arthropod maturation inhibitors.
