Fluorine-containing polyols obtained by the free radical addition of a fluoro-olefin having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein Y represents F and Z represents Cl or F(CF.sub.2)n--wherein n is an integer from 0 to 10 or Y and Z together form a --(CF.sub.2)m-- chain wherein m represents an integer from 2 to 4 to a polyol wherein each hydroxyl group is directly attached to a group of the formula:--(CH.sub.2).sub.p O-- (2)wherein p is an integer of at least 4.
