A fungicidal composition comprising a fungicidally effective amount of a 1,3-diazolyl-2-propanol of the formula ##STR1## in which Alk.sup.1 is alkyl, andAlk.sup.2 is alkyl, orAlk.sup.1 and Alk.sup.2 together complete a cycloaliphatic ring,X is a nitrogen atom or the CH group,Y is a nitrogen atom or the CH group, andR is optionally substituted phenyl, phenylalkyl, phenoxy, phenylthio, phenoxyalkyl, phenylthioalkyl, benzyloxy or benzylthio,or a physiologically acceptable product thereof with an acid or metal salt in admixture with a diluent.
