The hard disk drive includes a power supply monitor circuit for monitoring an initially supplied power supply voltage, and a controller for supplying a prescribed reference voltage to the power supply monitor circuit, and for controlling the power supply voltage generated when initially activating a spindle motor by varying a permissible variation level of the power supply voltage of the power supply monitor circuit.
