A martensitic stainless steel pipe comprises, on the weight basis, C: 0.005 to 0.2%, Si: 1% or below, Mn: 0.1 to 5%, Cr: 7 to 15%, and Ni: 0 to 8%, wherein a wall thickness t (mm) and contents of C and Cr satisfy the relationship represented by the following equation (1).t(mm).ltoreq.exp{5.21-18.1C(%)-0.0407Cr(%)} (1)The steel pipe can be made by employing water quenching as a quenching method.
