Thus, at least four liquid type color developing units using liquid developer having a high toner density of 5 to 35% are arranged on a rotary base which is rotated so that the developing units are changed over so as to be respectively opposed to a recording medium, and each of the developing units is composed of a cartridge bottle in which the liquid developer is pooled, a supply passage for supplying the liquid developer pumped up from the cartridge bottle onto a pump-up roller for feeding the liquid developer pumped up onto a developing roller. The supply passage can supply a regulated quantity of the liquid developer in association with the rotation of the rotary base.
