In the liquid crystal display panel, a first electrode and a second electrode for applying an electric field to the liquid crystal layer and an alignment film are formed in a plurality of pixel areas that form a display area in one of the pair of substrates, a planarization insulating film is formed on a surface of at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode and across an entire surface of the pixel areas, and the alignment film is formed on a surface of the planarization insulating film.
