If it is determined that the digital signal includes a CNG signal, the image communication apparatus determines that the digital signal is a facsimile signal received as deemed voice, and executes facsimile reception according to the T.30 standard. If it is determined that the digital signal does not include a CNG signal, the image communication apparatus determines that the digital signal is a voice signal, and executes a voice call.
