The method of controlling a display apparatus includes: displaying an interface for setting up a remote controller that controls an external device connected to at least one input terminal of the display apparatus; receiving a selection of a user for setting up the remote controller through the user interface; and transmitting remote controller code information corresponding to the external device to the remote controller in accordance with the selection.
