The printing apparatus includes a controller that determines an aspect ratio of a printing pattern on a basis of data of an expansion and contraction rate of a continuous print medium to be expandable or contractible after printing, the expansion and contraction rate including a first expansion and contraction rate in a longitudinal direction and a second expansion and contraction rate in a width direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, and a printing unit that prints the printing pattern of the aspect ratio determined by the controller, on the print medium before expansion or contraction.
