The method includes: a host transmits a software management request to a virtual machine; the host acquires a software management script from a shared storage server according to a request for the management script returned by the virtual machine after the software management request is received; and the host transmits the acquired software management script to the virtual machine and indicates the virtual machine to execute the software management script. a system and a device for managing software on the virtual machine in a cloud environment are also provided. By the schemes of the present invention, the operation of needing to configure an IP address to the virtual machine when the virtual machine software is managed is avoided. Meanwhile, the problem that the software of a virtual machine not configured with an IP address in a cloud environment cannot be managed is solved.
