In particular, the present invention concerns a procedure for implementing event-based billing in conjunction with services provided for consumers via a telephone connection. In the procedure, a connection is set up between a terminal device (1) and an intelligent peripheral (5), a service is selected in the peripheral by means of the terminal device, an assessment request based on the selected service is sent from the peripheral to a service control point (3) and, based on the assessment requests sent by the peripheral, an event-based bill for the customer is produced.
