An ESP regulator for motor vehicles containing at least one motor vehicle dynamic regulator (GMR) and an anti-blocking system (ABS or ABS Plus) as basic functions and which can also be provided with other basic functions or systems such as ASR, MSR, EBV, whereby the basic functions are organized in a hierarchical manner and the motor vehicle dynamic regulator (GMR regulator) has priority over the other systems. The motor vehicle dynamic regulator calculates an additional yawing moment ( DELTA M) and additional longitudinal and lateral forces ( DELTA FL, DELTA FS) arising therefrom on the basis of a deviation of the yaw velocity from an ideal yaw velocity that is predefined for an actual driving situation and on the basis of a deviation of an estimated sideslip angle of the motor vehicle. These variables ( DELTA M, DELTA Fquer, DELTA Flängs) are then evaluated as correction values for the yawing moments, lateral forces and longitudinal forces that are generated by the subordinate systems or basic functions.
