Said converter device (1, 2, 4, 9 to 13) produces a digital image signal for intermediate storage in the memory (19) of a program-controlled data processing device (15). Said data processing device (15) derives the course of the two edges of the double-edged variable-width track (DZ) from data values of the intermediately stored image signal. Audio data for reproducing sound are generated using data relating to the course of the edges that is determined.
