The seal can be produced according to a physical property of an electroactive plastic material which can be modified. The invention also relates to a device for receiving an electrical circuit and/or a device comprising electrical switching means, having at least one first and one second housing part (12a, 14a) operating as a first part and a second part (12, 14), with an above-mentioned device (10). The invention further relates to a method for producing a seal between a first part (12) and a second part (14), especially a first housing part (12a) and a second housing part (14a), by means of such a device (10), a first electrical voltage being applied to create the seal, and a second electrical voltage being applied to lift the seal.
