This disclosure relates to methods and materials for treating functional dyspepsia (FD). Specifically, the disclosure provides a method for treating FD in a mammal, wherein said method comprising administering a composition comprising secretin, or a composition comprising neprilysin inhibitor, to a mammal identified as having FD, wherein a symptom of said FD is reduced. Further disclosed are symptoms of FD that can be treated.
