A buck-boost converter is described that comprises input terminals, output terminals, a pair of first switches; a pair of second switches; a pair of third switches or diodes; an inductor, a capacitor, and a controller for controlling the switches. Each of the first switches is connected between a respective input terminal and a first terminal of the inductor, and each of the second switches is connected between a respective input terminal and a second terminal of the inductor. Each of the third switches or diodes is connected between a respective input terminal and a second terminal of the capacitor. A first terminal of the capacitor is connected to the second terminal of the inductor and an output terminal, and the second terminal of the capacitor is connected to another output terminal.
