The present invention relates to a neural interface device (10) comprising an electrically conductive material (12), a porous material (18) in electrical contact with the electrically conductive material (12), and a securing material (14) for securing the porous material (18) on the electrically conductive material (12), wherein the securing material (14) comprises a protecting portion (16') which is in physical contact with an edge region (20') of the porous material (18).
