A connector (110) includes a housing (103) and a release button (122). The housing (103) defines a recess (120) for receiving a latch member (118) of a receptacle (108). The release button (122) is operable to cause displacement of the latch member (118) from the recess (120) and has a surface (332A, 332B) that aligns with a surface portion (334A, 334B) of the housing (103) when disconnected from the receptacle (108). The surface (332A, 332B) of the release button (122) protrudes from the surface portion (334A, 334B) of the housing (101, 103) when the connector (110) is connected to the receptacle (108) to provide a visual indication that the connector (110) is connected to the receptacle (108).
