摘要: This invention provides a fixed or portable non-lethal laser security device and method for use of such device as a non-damaging weapon and security system to provide warning and visual impairment upon an intruder. At a predetermined laser wavelength and intensity, this invention utilizes laser light in the visible portion of the wavelength spectrum to create temporary visual impairment, hesitation, delay, distraction, and reductions in combat and functional effectiveness through the effects of glare, flashblind, and psychological impact. The device should have a housing structure to protect the internal components from damage or destruction, the ability to produce and transmit visible laser light over various wavelengths and intensities, a power source to drive the laser light, a collimating lens to focus the laser light, and should couple and communicate with an existing security device.

摘要: An optical system of the present invention produces multiple simultaneous adjoining images on a single image plane. The optical system includes a first optical sub-system (12), a second optical sub-system (14), an aperture stop (16) located between the first and second optical sub-systems, and a beam separating sub-system (18) located at a plane substantially coincident with the aperture stop. The beam separating sub-system can receive electromagnetic radiation from the first optical sub-system and can separate the received electromagnetic radiation into multiple beams of electromagnetic radiation. The second optical sub-system images the multiple beams of electromagnetic radiation received from the beam separating sub-system into multiple images on an image plane (28).An output filter, overlaid on the image plane, prevents light from any one of the images from passing through to the portion of the image plane corresponding to any one of the other images.

摘要: A system for detecting the presence of ice crystals in a cloud comprising two thin walled semicylinder-shaped sensors, one having a concave inner surface and oriented longitudinally in a leading edge of an airfoil and the other having a convex outer surface being oriented longitudinally in the leading edge of the airfoil so that cloud water flows towards and into contact with the convex outer surface; a temperature controlling arrangement for heating the two sensors and maintaining them at a substantially constant temperature; and a comparison arrangement for finding a difference between (i) a power to maintain the temperature of the first sensor at its substantially constant temperature (ii) a power to maintain the temperature of the second sensor at its substantially constant temperature; and comparing the difference of the powers to a threshold value for evidencing the presence or predetermined amount of ice in the cloud water.
