The present invention relates to a load-dependent brake-power regulator, which presents for mounting in a vehicle a clearance-compensation element in the form of a rubber band (26, 126) which automatically brings the control lever (18) into the required stop position. After mounting the brake-power regulator in the vehicle a locking device (24) is fastened to the pin (23) by means of a screw (27) whereby a defined distance is set between the housing (1) of the brake-power regulator and the end (28)of a load-dependent operative draw spring. Once fastening has occurred the rubber band is redundant. In contrast to current technology which fastens a clearance-compensation spring to the end of the pin (23) on the lever side and cuts off the pin (23) by means of a pre-determined breaking point once it has been fastened, the present invention avoids damage to the pin (23,123) during transportation or by inappropriate handling since no breaking point is required.
