摘要: This invention provides a method for preparing polycarbonates, which utilizes polycondensation catalysta of the formula Ax+MF6-x, wherein A is an alkali metal or alkaline earth cation; M is a transition metal of group IVA or VA, or M is a p-block metal of group IIIB, IVB or VB; and x is 1, 2, or 3. We have found that this new class of catalysts provide excellent polmerization rates for hte prepartion of Bisphenol A polycarbonate form teh metl polmerization rates for the preparation of Bisphenol A polycarbonate form the melt polymerization of disphenyl carbonate and Bisphenol A. Moreover, the catalysts of the invention were found to be very selective in substantially reducingt the level of branching side reation, i.e., formation of Fries product, normally assocatiated with the melt polycarbonate process.

摘要: A phosphor material contains encapsulated particles of manganese (Mn4+) doped fluoride phosphor. A method of encapsulating such particles is also provided. Each particle is encapsulated with a layer of a manganese-free fluoride phosphor. The use of such a phosphor material in a lighting apparatus results in improved stability and acceptable lumen maintenance over the course of the apparatus life.

摘要: A catalyst composition is provided that includes a catalytic metal secured to a substrate, and the substrate is mesoporous and has pores that are templated. A catalyst composition includes a catalytic metal secured to a mesoporous substrate. The mesoporous substrate is a reaction product of a reactive solution, a solvent, a modifier, and a templating agent. A method includes reacting a reactive solution and a templating agent to form a gel; and calcining the gel to form a substrate having a mesoporous template that is capable to support a catalyst composition.
