The present invention relates to a novel chemical compound of the formula (I) and to pharmaceutically acceptable salts, derivatives and esters thereof. In addition, the invention also relates to a process for isolating the compound of the formula (I) from raw rooibos material. The invention relates to combinations of extracts of various plants. A plant extract is obtained from non-fermented rooibos by extraction with a mixture of water and alcohol. The rooibos extract contains a compound of formula (I) (aspacat). The compound of formula (I) is shown below: (I). The extracts of other plants are obtained from fermented rooibos and/or green tea and/or curcuma and/or ginseng. The combinations can be used as drugs and/or food supplements for preventing and/or treating dementia disorders.
