    摘要: A softener control assembly including a piston and a brine valve to control water and regeneration flow. The piston is controlled by an eccentric connected to the drive shaft of the control valve. The brine valve is controlled by a cam, that is also connected to the drive shaft. The cam and eccentric are mounted on the drive shaft that also includes an encoder disc. The encoder disc and shaft position are monitored by a microcontroller using an optical sensor mounted on a circuit board to control the piston and brine valve positions. The encoder disc has a pattern of slots that are evenly spaced to provide positional control. The encoder disc is designed to include a disrupted location on the disc where the ribs of the slots are removed to provide an open area and the slots are filled in to provide a closed off area. This allows the optical sensing system to recalibrate itself during each revolution. The softener control assembly also includes a de-bounce feature where a delay is incorporated in the optical sensing program to require that the presence or lack of the optical signal is assured before the signal is accepted as valid.

    摘要: A rotary control valve (10) is provided for a liquid conditioning system. The rotary control valve includes a housing (12) having a chamber formed about a central axis. The housing includes a plurality of ports aligned with one another along an axis generally parallel to the central axis. A rotor (14) is located within the chamber and is selectively rotatable about the central axis. The rotor includes a central tubular wall extending along the central axis which includes a central fluid flow path. The rotor includes an inlet port adapted to provide fluid communication between the central fluid flow path and a source of untreated liquid. The rotor also includes a plurality of longitudinal sectors wherein each sector includes one or more radial chambers located in one or more tiers of the sector. One or more of the radial chambers in each sector includes an aperture to provide fluid communication between the central fluid flow path and the radial chamber. The radial chambers include respective peripheral apertures adapted to selectively place the radial chambers of a sector in fluid communication with one or more of the ports of the housing when the sector is rotated into alignment with the ports in the housing. Selective rotation of the rotor about the central axis to a selected rotational position opens and closes various fluid paths through the rotor and the housing.

    摘要: A control mechanism is provided for operating a control valve in a water conditioning system. The control mechanism includes a timing mechanism for regulating the regeneration cycle and service cycle of the water conditioning system and a control valve positioning mechanism for operating the control valve of the water conditioning system. The control valve positioning mechanism and the timing mechanism are driven by a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism includes a timing drive gear which is in driving engagement with the timing mechanism and a control valve drive gear which is in driving engagement with the control valve positioning mechanism. A clutch selectively couples the control valve drive gear to the timing drive gear to provide selective conjoint rotation of the control valve drive gear with the timing drive gear. The clutch includes a coupling member having a first end wrapped around a stem of the timing drive gear and a second end wrapped around the stem of the control valve drive gear. When the timing drive gear is rotated the coupling member couples the control valve drive gear to the timing drive gear for conjoint rotation. However, when the clutch is selectively gripped by a pivotable cam arm, the control valve drive gear is uncoupled from the timing drive gear such that the timing drive gear rotates without any corresponding rotation of the control valve drive gear.

The control mechanism includes an inlet passage for receiving liquid to be treated and an outlet passage for dispensing treated liquid. A first valve is provided having a first chamber in fluid communication with the inlet passage and a second chamber in fluid communication with the outlet passage. The first valve is rotatable between a first position and a second position. A second valve is provided in fluid communication with the second chamber of the first valve. The second valve is adapted to selectively open and close a fluid path between the second chamber of the first valve and the first tank and to selectively open and close a fluid path between the second chamber of the first valve and the second tank. When the first valve is located in the first position, the first chamber is in fluid communication with the inlet of the first tank and is sealed from the second tank and the second chamber of the first valve is in fluid communication with the outlet of the first tank. When the first valve is located in the second position, the first chamber is in fluid communication with the inlet of the second tank and the inlet of the second tank and is sealed from the first tank and the second chamber is in fluid communication with the outlet of the second tank.

    摘要: A fluid injector assembly for drawing a first fluid into the flow of a second fluid. The injector assembly includes an eductor including an inlet having a plurality of openings, a first outlet port, and a first fluid passage extending between the inlet and the first outlet port. The openings are generally disposed tangentially to the first fluid passage. The inlet is adapted to be placed in fluid communication with the second fluid such that the second fluid flows through the first fluid passage from the inlet to the first outlet port. The fluid injector assembly also includes a throat having an inlet port, a second outlet port and a second fluid passage extending between the inlet port and the second outlet port. The inlet port of the throat is spaced apart from the first outlet port of the eductor forming a gap therebetween. The gap is adapted to be placed in fluid communication with the first fluid. As the second fluid flows through the first passage, the tangential openings of the eductor cause the second fluid to swirl as the second fluid flows through the first fluid passage and to form a vortex in the gap as the second fluid flows out of the first outlet port. The vortex of the second fluid creates a low pressure zone within the gap which draws the first fluid into the gap wherein the first fluid and the second fluid enter the inlet port of the throat and flow through the second fluid passage.
