    摘要: An improved flat panel display provides reduced reflection of incident light on the display to improve visibility. The display includes a transparent top cover panel such as glass which is bonded or laminated to the display polarizer. The outer viewing surface of the top cover panel carries a plurality of integral surface features defined in the surface, which may comprise etched bumps or micro-machined tetrahedron-shaped protuberances that may be truncated, smoothed, and/or variously oriented and sized to further reduce incident light reflectivity. A multi-layer HEA coating on the featured surface defines a graduated transition layer with an index of refraction that gradually, and preferably smoothly, varies from layer to layer of the HEA coating from the index of refraction of the top cover panel to the index of refraction of the ambient air or other material which the outermost viewable surface of the display presents an image to an observer or viewer.

In boldfacing the character data, a character line width-increasing pattern is selected in accordance with a degree to which the luminous intensity of the light-emitting elements contributes. In particular, the step of increasing the character line width in order to boldface the character data avoids a pattern in which a B-light (blue) emitting element is located at a next-to-endmost inner position of the increased character line width. A light-emitting pattern is selected in order to eliminate an isolated sub-pixel spot, which otherwise would objectionably be visible in the boldfaced character.

    摘要: In a device for controlling the displaying of characters for a video system, the memory for storing information relating to the displaying of the characters is partitioned into two areas:

    a first area (Z1, Z1') for storing, at fixed addresses, data and parameters for general control of the display; and
    a second area (Z2) which is divisable into spaces (B1, B2, B3) of variable sizes so as to store, in each of the spaces, control parameters and data relating to the displaying of a row of characters, the spaces being chained together by virtue of a parameter, the address of the next memory space, stored in each space.

    This memory architecture offers multiple possibilities for modifying the display parameters from one row to another within one and the same "screen" whilst optimizing the size of the memory used.
