    摘要: In a dot print head of an impact type moved in a direction of spacing movement relative to a printing medium, and having a plurality of printing elements each having a printing wire arranged substantially in an elongated circle centered at a line parallel with the direction in which the printing elements are driven, and which is provided with a wire guide having guide elements for the respective printing wires for guiding tips of the printing wires to predetermined positions on said printing medium, the guide elements are divided into at least four rows each extending in the direction orthogonal to said direction of the spacing movement and orthogonal to the direction in which the printing wires extend, and distances between said rows are multiples of 1/240 inches. Each of the printing elements is driven for printing either at a reference timing which occurs once a standard printing cycle having a standard period, at a timing 1/4 of the standard period past said reference timing, at a timing half the standard period past said reference timing, or at a timing 3/4 of the standard period past said reference timing.

    摘要: In a printer head comprising a print element (12) and a protecting member (32) which is for protecting a printing end (24) of the print element, the protecting member is movable in a predetermined direction to place a free end (34) thereof at a first and a second position. The printing end is movable between a rest position and an activated or printing position in a first sense of the predetermined direction. When placed in the first position, the free end is substantially flush with the printing end put in the rest position so that the protecting member effectively protects the printing end. When the protecting member is moved in a second sense opposite to the first sense, the free end is retracted from the first position in the second sense to be placed at the second position so that the printing end can be readily machined without being obstructed by the protecting member. Preferably, the protecting member is rendered integral with a holding member (26) for holding the print element so that the printing end is movable between the rest position and the activated position.

    摘要: A matrix head wire print position shift apparatus which includes a plurality of longitudinally movable print wires (42) which are disposed in guides (56, 60, 64). One of the guides (64) supports the printing ends of the wires (62) and is transversely shiftable between a first print position and a second print position by a shiftable support (68). In the first print position the print wires are selectably operable to print characters defined by a first set of adjacent substantially tangential circularly shaped dots. In the second print position the wire print devices are selectably operable to enhance printing of the characters with a second set of overlapping dots which are offset by one-half dot space from the first set. The shifting device (70, 94, 110) is located within the print wire housing (10).
