    摘要: A cationic oil-in-water emulsion for addition to detersive compositions comprising a hydrophilic cationic polymer, an oil-soluble anionic polymer, and a hydrophobic benefit agent in the oil phase made by adding the benefit agent to a hydrophobic liquid; thickening the oil phase with an organophillic smectite clay reacted at clay platelet surfaces to make the clay platelet surfaces hydrophobic while the edge surfaces of the clay remain hydrophilic, such that the benefit agent is adsorbed at an oil/water interface in the emulsion, wherein the anionic polymer is capable of adsorbing the hydrophobic benefit agent at an oil/water interface of the emulsion, and the a hydrophilic, cationic polymer has a cationic nitrogen content of at least 6% by weight, that is incompatible with anionic surfactants, being insoluble in anionic-surfactant solutions containing an amount of 3% or higher of an anionic surfactant, and the hydrophilic cationic polymer has a cationic nitrogen content of at least 0.1% by weight and has a molecular weight of at least 600,000 Dalton.

    摘要: Compositions and methods for planarizing or polishing a NiP, glass, ceramic or glass-ceramic surface in the manufacture of a computer memory disk. The polishing compositions described herein comprise (a) a liquid carrier, preferably water; (b) an abrasive; (c) purified clay; and optional additives, such as (d) a chemical accelerator or oxidizing agent; and (e) a complexing or coupling agent capable of chemically or ionically complexing with, or coupling to, the NiP, glass, ceramic, and/or glass-ceramic material removed during the polishing process. The complexing or coupling agent carries away the metal, glass, ceramic and/or glass-ceramic particles removed during polishing, to prevent the separated particles from returning to the surface from which they were removed. Also disclosed are methods of planarizing or polishing a NiP, glass, ceramic and/or glass-ceramic surface comprising contacting the surface with the compositions.

    摘要: Cosmetic and personal care compositions can be manufactured using the multifunctional-additive compositions of the present invention. Such an additive preferably contains one or more particulate-based thickeners, such as a smectite clay, colloidal silica, laponite, and/or alumina, and most preferably one or more smectite clays. According to one important embodiment of the present invention, the thickener particles are co-dispersed with particles of one or more particulate UVR-filters such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or SUNSPHERE (available from International Specialty Chemicals, ISP), and most preferably with the natural particulate sunscreens such as the metal oxides. Another important component of the multifunctional-additive compositions is a dispersant or surface-modifier for the foregoing particulate materials, selected from the family of polyphenolic, natural polymers such as lignosulfonates, lignins, humates, tannates, and derivatives thereof. In addition, these compositions optionally include one or more of the following components: electrolytes, defoamers, humectants, emollients for cosmetics, preservatives, whiteners, and the like.
