    摘要: A slider (30) is disclosed for straddling relation with a profiled plastic zipper (32) of a reclosable bag. The zipper (32) has first and second interlocking profiles, and the straddling slider (30) closes and opens the interlocking profiles by movement along the zipper (32). The slider (30) includes a transverse support member (40) and a pair of side walls (42, 44) extending downward from opposing sides of the support member (40). The side walls (42, 44) forming respective first and second shoulders (58, 60) extending inwardly toward each other. The first and second shoulders (58, 60) include respective first and second innermost ends (62, 64) facing and contacting respective adjacent portions of the reclosable bag below the respective first and second interlocking profiles. The first and second innermost ends (62, 64) define a tortuous path therebetween, and the adjacent portions of the reclosable bag pass through the tortuous path. The tortuous path is created by protrusions formed by at least one of the innermost ends.

    摘要: A foldable plastic slider (10) closes or opens a plastic fastener including first and second profiles. The slider comprises a transverse support member (50) including first and second opposing sides. First and second legs (56, 58) depend from the respective first and second opposing sides of the member. A first separating finger (54) extends from an interior surface of the member and opens the fastener. The second separating finger (52) extends from the interior surface of the member. First and second wings (60, 62) are hingedly attached to the respective first and second opposing sides and have respective first and second openings receiving the respective first and second legs and respective first and second cross pieces (64, 66) with a latch (64a, 66a). The first and second wings are folded relative to the member and each of the latches engages one of the respective legs to install the slider on the fastener.

    摘要: Low density expanded and extruded thermoplastic polymer foams are obtained using an environmentally benign non-VOC and non-HAP methyl formate as a blowing agent. The blowing agent can be a blend further including at least one co-blowing agent, preferably an environmentally friendly species (e.g., non-VOC and/or non-HAP). The co-blowing agent is either a physical co-blowing agent (e.g. an inorganic agent, a hydrocarbon, a halogenated hydrocarbon, a hydrocarbon with polar, functional group(s), water or any combination thereof), or a chemical co-blowing agent, or combinations thereof. The thermoplastic polymer foam can be an alkenyl aromatic polymer foam, e.g. a polystyrene foam. The blowing agent blend can include any combination of methyl formate and one or more co-blowing agents. The methyl formate-based blowing agent blends produce stable foams for various applications, including containers, packaging systems, as well as insulation boards and building materials. Processes for the preparation of such foams are also provided.

These novel compositions can be extruded and thermoformed to produce very low density food service and consumer foam articles such as plates, hinged lid containers, trays, bowls, and egg cartons with good mechanical properties.

    摘要: Expanded and extruded biodegradable polymer foams are obtained using biodegradable polymers and environmentally benign non-VOC methyl formate as a blowing agent. The blowing agent can be a blend further including at least one co- blowing agent, preferably an environmentally friendly species (e.g., non-soc), which is either a physical co-blowing agent (e.g. an inorganic agent, a hydrocarbon, a halogenated hydrocarbon, a hydrocarbon with polar, functional group(s), water or any combination thereof), or a chemical co-blowing agent, or combinations thereof. The blowing agent blend can include any combination of methyl formate and one or more co-blowing agents. The polymer foam can include a biodegradable polymer or its blends with other biodegradable polymers or conventional (non-biodegradable) polymers. The methyl formate-based blowing agent blends produce stable foams for various applications, including containers, packaging systems, as well as for insulation and protective cushioning. Processes for the preparation of such foams are also provided.
