The tube set according to the invention is characterized by means (10; 10', 8a', 8b'; 10'', 10''', 8a, 8b) for lowering the water pressure to substantially atmospheric pressure. The invention also relates to a process for supplying a powder concentrate to a monitor (1) for preparation of a medical solution for example a dialysis solution, replacement fluid for haemofiltration or dialysis fluid for peritoneal dialysis, whereby the powder concentrate is supplied instead of a concentrate in liquid form, which the monitor is arranged to normally take from a vessel at atmospheric pressure. The process according to the invention is characterized in that the powder is dissolved by the through-flow of water from a water source whereby the dissolving occurs substantially at atmospheric pressure, which pressure is also maintained during the subsequent transportation to the monitors normal intake of concentrate.

The invention is characterized in that the said means for the treatment of the blood comprise among other things a filter (21) with the help of which superfluous fluid can be removed so as to concentrate the blood. The filter (21) is appropriately arranged to be included in a recirculation circuit (18) which in turn forms part of a set of tubes (23, 24, 25), preferably intended for single use, comprising also other parts necessary for the treatment. With the help of the system in accordance with the invention a concentrated whole blood with functioning thrombocytes and coagulation factors is obtained.

The apparatus further comprises a first optical sensor for the radiation emitted by the light source that detects the radiation transmitted through the fluid conduit, and a second sensor that detects the radiation reflected from the fluid conduit. With the help of the signals detected by both sensors, both the presence of a fluid conduit and the content of the fluid conduit can be easily and reliably determined, the method for this likewise being described.
