Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur biologischen Abwasserreinigung und eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens. Bei den mit Hilfe von Belebtschlamm durchgeführten Verfahren wird das Abwasser zunächst in ein belüftbares Belebungsbecken und anschließend in ein Sedimentationsbecken eingeleitet, in dem eine Trennung von Belebtschlamm und Klarwasser erfolgt und nach Trennung Belebtschlamm in das Belebungsbecken zurückgeführt und mit Klarwasser abgezogen wird. Im Sedimentationsbecken wird mehrmals am Tag ein Betriebszyklus durchgeführt, der eine Rührphase, eine Vorabsetzphase und eine Abzugsphase aufweist, wobei in der Rührphase der Belebtschlamm wieder mit dem Wasser vermischt wird, in der Vorabsetzphase der Belebtschlamm sedimentiert wird und in der Abzugsphase Klarwasser abgezogen wird. Nach der Vorabsetzphase und vor der Rührphase wird sedimentierter Belebtschlamm in das Belebungsbecken rückgeführt. Bei der erfindungsgemäßen Vorrichtung ist im Sedimentationsbecken eine Rückfördereinrichtung für sedimentierten Belebtschlamm vorgesehen, wobei die Rückfördereinrichtung wenigstens eine Ansaugöffnung im unteren Teil des Sedimentationsbeckens aufweist.

The invention relates to a device for carrying out a method for cleaning waste-water by means of activated sludge. According to said method, the waste-water to be treated is fed first into an activated-sludge tank (1), which can be ventilated, and then into a sedimentation tank (2) in which the sludge and clarified water are separated. After this, the sludge is fed back into the activated-sludge tank (1) and the clarified water withdrawn. In the sedimentation tank, operating cycles take place several times a day during which the sludge is recombined with the clarified water (stirring phase R). The activated-sludge tank (1) and the sedimentation tank (2) are connected to interconnected receptacles by means of openings (3, 4) provided for in the floor area of the sedimentation tank (2) and near the water level. In addition, the invention provides for devices for simultaneously transporting the tank contents from the activated-sludge tank (1) through the opening(s) (3) in the floor area and from the sedimentation tank (2) through the opening(s) (4) near the water level.

A decanting apparatus for a waste water treatment reactor which includes a float system which may be independent of the decanting apparatus end which allows the decanting apparatus to be removed without removing the float system. The decanting apparatus is a unique ball-funnel-shaped sleeve combination which may be powered internally or externally for removal of effluent that allows decanting below the surface at the most optimum level and may be intermittently operated on demand by floating switches or a programable timer. The decanting apparatus may be utilized in various applications including a gravity flow situation and two or more of these decanting apparatus's may be combined to provide more volume of effluent if required. This decanter is also ideal for environments where lower temperature extremes may form ice upon the upper layer of the fluid within the reactor.

When the wastewater in the intermediate tank reaches a predetermined level, a batch is transferred to an aerator/clarifier tank (56) where further aeration occurs. Sludge is allowed to settle, and supernatent is withdrawn to a drain field (92), while the sludge is returned to the intermediate tank or is wasted. The plant is automated under microprocessor control and can report to and exchange information with a central location.

Nach kurzer Zeit wird der in der Luft befindliche Sauerstoff durch Mikroorganismen veratmet; übrig bleibt ein inertes Gas. Auf diese Weise ist es möglich, sowohl für Belüftungsphase, als auch Mischphase die gleiche gerätemäßigen Ausstattung zu benutzen, wodurch die Wirtschaftlichkeit des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens gegenüber bekannten deutlich gesteigert wird.

The invention relates to a method for purifying nitrogen-containing waste water streams which arise, for example, in the food industry, the chemical industry etc. This purification method is characterized in that cycles are carried out which comprise the following steps: (a)supplying a first waste water influent to a reactor charged with nitrifying or denitrifying bacteria, respectively; (b) nitrifying by means of aerating the reactor contents; (c) supplying a second waste water influent to the reactor, so that reactor contents having a COD/NO 3 -N ratio ≧ 4 are obtained; (d) carrying out a denitrification of the reactor contents; (e) nitrifying once more by means of aerating the reactor contents; (f) allowing the reactor contents to settle; and (g) draining part of the reactor contents as effluent. The method according to the invention is preferably carried out in the case of an industrial plant which involves a number of waste water streams of different compositions, one of the waste water streams having a high COD load and advantageously also a low N kj -N level. The reduction in the nitrogen level of the untreated waste water stream(s) before purification can reach values of more than 95% in the process.

A process is described for the operation of a multiple zone batch treatment system for biological or biophysical treatment of wastewater. The system comprises two or more batch treatment zones (10,12) with wastewater passing sequentially through all treatment zones. After the mix and settle batch steps occur for all zones, influent wastewater flows into the first zone (10) and displaces clarified wastewater in a plug flow mode through each treatment zone and ultimately from the last zone (12). The combining of the decant and fill steps for all or most of the zones provides for shorter cycle times and greater capacity for the system.
