Abstract:
The invention relates to a wireless remote controlled device selection system for selecting devices. Signal processing provides information for a remote control device. This information is indicative of the angle between the remote control device and the various devices from which a device should be selected. By comparing the angular deviations, the desired device can be selected.
Abstract:
A pointing device (10) is disclosed comprising a light emitter (65) for emitting a plurality of light beams (100) in mutually different controlled directions. The light beams are individually identifiable. The receiving apparatus that is used with this pointing device comprises a light detector for detecting one or more of the plurality of light beams emitted by the pointing device. It determines which of the plurality of individually identifiable light beams are detected. Based thereon the orientation of the pointing device with respect to a target surface may be determined.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an electrical device comprising a wireless remote control (1) and a remotely controlled electrical apparatus (2), this apparatus itself comprising an electrical energy input (21), main units (3), a controlled contact circuit (4), and a control circuit (5) designed to deliver to the contact circuit, in response to a wakeup signal transmitted by the remote control (1), a change-of-state signal making it possible to wake up the electrical apparatus (2). According to the invention, the remote control (1) is designed to emit, as wake up signal, a collimated energy wave (10), and the control circuit (5) comprises an energy transducer (51) suitable for producing the change-of-state signal directly on the basis of the energy of the wakeup signal.
Abstract:
A remote controller, a method of setting an operating mode thereof, and a method of determining a host device. The remote controller includes an angle detection unit to set a direction of an end of the remote controller to be a reference axis if a manipulation is input, and to detect a rotational angle between the reference axis and the front end axis of the remote controller if the remote controller rotates, and a controlling unit to control the remote controller to operate in an operating mode corresponding to the rotational angle.
Abstract:
An optical signal remote controller with narrowed acting angle having an optical signal emitter and a light guiding element used to narrow the acting angle of the optical signal emitted by the optical signal emitter is provided. The remote controller further includes a modulating apparatus, which move the light guiding element between a wide angle position and a narrow angle position to selectively narrow the acting angle. In the embodiments, a laser position indicator is also provided to indicate the targeting direction of acting angle.
Abstract:
The invention describes a method for locating an object (B1, B1', B2, B3) associated with a device (D1, D2, D3) to be controlled, which method comprises aiming a pointing device (1) comprising a camera (2) at a target area (A), generating an image (3) of the target area (A) aimed at by the pointing device (1) and analysing the target area image (3) to determine a property of the object (B1, B1', B2, B3). A feedback signal (4), regarding the property of the object (B1, B1', B2, B3), is generated based on analysis of the images (3) and reported to the user by rendering the feedback signal (4) into a tactile indication generated in at least part of the pointing device (1). The invention also describes a pointing device (1), a device control interface (8, 8') and a system comprising such a pointing device (1) and device control interface (8, 8') suitable for applying this method. Furthermore, the invention describes a method and a system (15) for controlling a device (Dl, D2, D3) using such a method for locating an object (B1, B1', B2, B3) associated with the device (D1, D2, D3).
Abstract:
The invention describes a method for control of a device (la, lb, lc). The method comprises visually presenting a number of user options for the device to be controlled (la, lb, lc), aiming a pointing device (2) comprising a camera (3) at the visual presentation (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e) of the user options to choose a desired option, generating an image (5) of a target area (6) aimed at by the pointing device (2) and comparing the target area image (5) with a pre-defined template of the visual presentation (4a, 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e) to determine the chosen option.
Abstract:
The user interaction system comprises a portable pointing device (101) connected to a camera (102) and sending pictures to a digital signal processor (120), capable of recognizing an object (130) and a command given by the user (100) by moving the pointing device (101) in a specific way, and controlling an electrical apparatus (110) on the basis of this recognition.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling an electronic device and to an electronic system. The method comprises pointing (402) physically using a pointing device at a link device in order to create a wireless data transmission connection between the pointing device and the link device, and transferring (404) identification data between the pointing device and the link device along the created data transmission connection. Next, a first association between the identification data of the pointing device and the identification data of the link device is formed (406). After this, a second association between the identification data of the user of the pointing device and the identification data of the electronic device to be controlled communicating with the link device is formed (408), the second association being based on the first association, on a third association between the identification data of the pointing device stored in a database and the user's identification data, and on a fourth association between the identification data of the link device stored in a database and the identification data of the electronic device to be controlled. Finally, the control data between the pointing device and the electronic device to be controlled is transferred (410) utilizing the information in the associations.
