    摘要： The invention relates to over and under delivery sheet accumulators. Prior sheet accumulators required considerable time to adjust the accumulator for pass-through, under or over sheet delivery. The present invention solves this problem by providing a retractable ramp mechanism which allows for quick and easy adaptability to optionally over or under accumulate and to optionally pass-through sheets without accumulation into stacks. The retractable-ramp accumulator includes driven endless elastic belts (10, 12) to feed sheets therebetween along a sheet-feeding path (24), a sheet stacker (26) having a stacking location and including a selectively releasable stop gate (16), and at least one selectively retractable ramp (14) for selectively deflecting sheets out of the sheet feeding path (24) for selectively feeding under or over previous sheets that are stopped in the stacking location by the stop gate (16). In one embodiment, an upper and lower set of ramps (37, 76) are arranged such that while one set of ramps is retracted, the other set of ramps is interposed in the sheet feeding path (24), so that sheets can selectively be "over" or "under" accumulated.

    摘要： A system for changing the speed of conveyed sheets (10) while maintaining the sheets in register including a speed changing belt (18) operating at a constant speed (V1) to present a radial outer surface portion which travels over a cylindrical guide (23) and into tangent contact with the surface of the sheet travelling at a speed equal to the velocity of the incoming sheets. A portion of the speed changing belt includes an acceleration lobe (30) positioned to engage the trailing portion of the sheet and to provide a continuously increasing radius at the tangent contract portion as the belt (18) travels around the pulley (23) whereby the outer surface velocity of the lobe and the sheet in contact therewith continuously increase from the incoming speed to a desired second speed (V2). The constant velocity speed changing belt (18) requires only a simple constant speed drive and the speed change lobe (30) attached to the belt requires only a relatively small increase in the effective radius of the belt around the cylindrical guide such that unacceptable vertical displacements of the sheet from the plane of travel are obviated. Only the mass of the sheet or other product being conveyed (and an upper holddown idler roll if used) is subject to acceleration (or deceleration) forces as all the machine drive components run at constant velocity during the speed change, thereby minimizing the overall inertial effects.
