A pressure tolerant composite panel has an inner fiber reinforced layer, an outer fiber reinforced layer and a core disposed therebetween. In one embodiment of the invention, the inner layer (25) has weakening structures (30) incorporated at the peripheral edges thereof, and has an outer layer (26) of a different and lower modulus of elasticity than the inner layer to provide some degree of elongation. When high internal forces are encountered, the weakening structures allow the inner layer to separate, with the outer layers stretching to absorb the forces without failure. Optionally, strengthening straps (28, 29) are positioned about the panel such that it is compartmentalized into discrete sections to contain damage in localized areas. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the inner core (27) is produced of a crushable material which has a yield strength sufficient to provide structural support under normal operating conditions. When a high pressure is encountered which exceeds the yield limit, the core is crushed to prevent force transmission to the outer layer. Such a composite panel assures survivability of the panel when subjected to impact damage.

A sensor (1) is disclosed for the measurement of moisture in a flow of material, especially loose material such as meal material, grains, granulates and similar materials which are to be pressed to form feed pills in presses, in connection with pre-processing such as the extrusion of feedstuffs, and for the measurement of a finished product, regardless of whether this is pelleted or extruded. The sensor (1) comprises a tube piece (2) of an electrically conductive material with circular cross-section, and an elongated pole (3) which is of circular cross-section and is disposed with its longitudinal axis (4) concentrically and electrically insulated in the tube piece (2), and which consists of an electrically conductive material. When the moist material flows between the inside surface of the tube piece (2) and the outer side of the pole (3), the sensor (1) works as a condenser for the capacitive detection of the moistness, which can be determined on the basis of the detection. There is hereby achieved a very accurate measurement of the content of moisture in the material, even though the material flows in a pulsating manner.

Method of removal of paint etcetera from a timber element, e.g. a window frame or a door leaf, comprising a step during which the element is inserted into an oven, in which at least the paint and the outer layer of the timber is heated, and a step carried out soonest thereafter, in which step paint and/or similar material such as e.g. putty is mechanically removed utilizing as such known technique before the element has been cooled to room temperature. Equipment for carrying out the method is also disclosed. The method makes possible saving of labour and - in a specific embodiment - reuse of glass panes mounted in the element.

The invention concerns a base-frame for a windmill which is executed in one piece of steel plate. The plate piece is machined with the assembly points necessary for the frame. The base-frame according to the invention can maintain the same strength characteristics as a welded frame while using fewer and less pre-processed materials. The invention also relates to a windmill with a self-supporting machine shield in which the windmill's generator is housed. Moreover, the invention provides the possibility of achieving an increased damping of the structural noise, in that the scale between the windmill's larger vibrating elements, by the reduction of the base-frame's weight, can be made of the same magnitude, partly by suspending the windmill's generator in the machine shield, and partly by configuring the machine shield with vibration-damping or mass-increasing materials.

The first compartment (7) is connected to a refrigeration unit having an evaporator (13) in the first compartment (7) and a condenser (14) which is placed under the bottom in the second compartment (17), so that the heat from the condenser (14) can rise up through a grating (21) into the second compartment (17). The first compartment (7) is insulated against heat on five (6, 8, 9, 10, 11) of its six walls, while the sixth wall (15) is formed using a heat-conducting material. The moisture from wet garbage which is deposited in the second compartment (17) is evaporated by the heat from the condenser and rises to meet the cold wall (15). Consequently, the vapour condenses and drips down this wall to a drip-tray (18), from which the condensate is led to a dish (20) via a tube (19).

A shrink sleeve of expanded synthetic material, particularly for the joints of jackets on pre-insulated district heating pipes (10), is provided with a series of corrugations or folds (5) which extend over at least a half of the periphery of the sleeve. The height of the corrugations (5) varies from a maximum on the one side of the sleeve to a minimum on the other side, preferably so that the one side of the sleeve is completely smooth. The effect of the asymmetrical folds (5) is that the sleeve can easily be adapted for a joining of the pipes in a bend. The side of the sleeve which lies outermost at the bend is thus capable of being stretched without the inner side of the bend being crumpled together. Consequently, the subsequent shrinking by influence from a gas flame will be able to be effected so that the shrunken sleeve lies smoothly up against both the outer side and the inner side of the bend.
