An apparatus for thermally de-coating and/or drying coated and/or contaminated materials comprises a support and an oven (10) pivotally mounted to the support. The oven has charging portion (12) for receiving material to be treated and a changeover portion (14). Incorporated within the changeover portion is a heat treatment chamber (16) through which a stream of hot gasses (15) can be passed. The oven is pivotally moveable between a first position in which the changeover portion is higher than the charging portion and a second position in which the charging portion is higher than the changeover portion. The arrangement is such that the oven can be repeatedly moved between the first and second positions so that material within the oven falls from one portion to the other portion, passing through the stream of hot gasses in the heat treatment chamber. A method of using the apparatus is also disclosed.

Method of removal of paint etcetera from a timber element, e.g. a window frame or a door leaf, comprising a step during which the element is inserted into an oven, in which at least the paint and the outer layer of the timber is heated, and a step carried out soonest thereafter, in which step paint and/or similar material such as e.g. putty is mechanically removed utilizing as such known technique before the element has been cooled to room temperature. Equipment for carrying out the method is also disclosed. The method makes possible saving of labour and - in a specific embodiment - reuse of glass panes mounted in the element.

This invention relates to novel methods for removing paint, lacquers and other coatings from metal and alloy materials, in particular metallic cans. One method of the present invention involves a combination of steps including: (i) a pre-treatment step to alter the structure of the paint, lacquer or other coating, such pre-treatment preferably involving heat, making the coating more amenable to biostripping; and (ii) contacting the metal or alloy material with a bacterial culture capable of removing said coating. In an alternative method the combination of steps includes: (i) a heat treatment step to alter the structure of the paint, lacquer or other coating; and (ii) an abrasive treatment involving contacting the heat treated coated metal or alloy material in step (i) with a similarly heated material and/or with an untreated and/or uncoated like metal or alloy material, wherein the contact is caused by rolling in a rolling reactor. The abrasion step makes the paint, lacquer or coating of the metal or alloy in step (2) amenable to stripping with a fluid which fluid is either present in the rolling reactor or is jet sprayed onto the heat treated and abraded coated metal or alloy material. The removed paint, lacquer or other coating, and/or the liquid used to remove the coating is treated with orgamisms such as bacteria, capable of degrading said coating, before subsequent disposal.

A flexible support layer is positioned adjacent the adhesive layer and the pad, opposite the removable first protective layer. A heat pad is arranged downwardly adjacent the flexible support layer. The heat pad is configured to control a microclimate adjacent the assembly when activated. A removable second protective layer is coupled to a surface of the heat pad. Removal of the second protective layer activates the heat pad.

Since the signal emitted by the signal source traverses the particle stream before being detected, the intensity of the signal detected by the signal sensor corresponds to a flow rate of the particle stream such that a subsequent change in the intensity of the signal that is detected by the signal sensor indicates a change in the flow rate of the particle stream. A method of monitoring a particle flow in an apparatus used for removing a coating from a substrate is also provided.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Reinigen von z.B. mit Lackresten oder Farbresten verschmutzten Metallteilen. In einem Schwelofen (10) werden die Lackteile oder Farbteile (16) abgebrannt, worauf die Metallteile in einem Salzbadofen (32) endgereinigt werden. Die Schwelgase werden thermisch nachverbrannt und die Abgase aus der Nachverbrennung werden zur direkten Beheizung des Salzbadofens (32) benutzt.
