摘要: The apparatus comprises a pump chamber (P1) with a conduit (34) between the chamber and a patient and conduits (26,32) between a peritoneal dialysis source (20) and a heater bag (22) through the chamber. A diaphragm (59) is actuable by fluid pressure to pump dialysis solution through the conduits. Control means (16) applies pressure at a lower magnitude when conveying fluid through the patient tube (34) and at a higher magnitude when pumping solution from the source (20) to the heater bag (22).

摘要: Peritoneal dialysis systems and methods move liquid using a pump chamber (P1, P2) that is operated in response to pneumatic pressure variations applied by a pump actuator (PA1, PA2). The systems and methods periodically measure air pressures in the actuator (PA1, PA2) and an associated reference air chamber (VS1, VS2) and derive from these a measurement of liquid volume moved through the pump chamber (P1, P2). The systems and methods minimize derivation errors by compensating for temperature differences among the pump chamber (P1, P2); the pump actuator (PA1, PA2); and the reference chamber (VS1, VS2).

摘要: The present invention provides a system for measuring flow of a fluid through a line. In the system, a region (15) of fluid along the line is isolated from pressure effects outside of the region. A source region (12) contains a measurement gas in communication with the isolated region, such that the source means and the isolated region together define a fixed volume, and such that a change in volume of fluid in the isolated region produces a complementary change in the volume of the source means with a resulting change in the pressure of the measurement gas contained in the source region. Further provided is a reservoir (11) in communication with the source means for containing a known volume of measurement gas, and means (25) for pumping measurement gas from the reservoir. The pressure of the measurement gas in the reservoir and the source region is monitored. This pressure data is then analyzed to determine the volume of fluid in the isolated region.

摘要: An intravenous line valving system. A fitting (75) for attaching an intravenous line to a drip chamber (71) is equipped with an aperture (61) through the exterior of the fitting permitting communication with the intravenous fluid path. A fluidtight member over the aperture prevents leakage of intravenous fluid and means are provided for compressing the flexible member against the interior surface of the fitting so as to regulate the flow of intravenous fluid through the line. In a preferred embodiment, the flexible member is compressed by an actuating pin on a medical infusion controller. In a further preferred embodiment, the compression of the membrane is accomplished by advancing a screw (73) in a removable screw holder (72) that seats snugly around the fitting proximate to the aperture.

摘要: There is disclosed herein a system for adjusting a negative pressure used to withdraw fluid from a cavity of a patient, the system comprising: a pump configured to provide negative or positive pressure to a fluid line connected to the cavity; a controller configured to measure and control the pressure provided by the pump; the controller (61100) also configured to measure a flow rate of fluid from the fluid line to the pump; wherein the controller (61100) is arranged to control the pump by providing negative pressure to the fluid line, measuring the rate of fluid flow, and control the pump by providing a positive pressure to the fluid line if the measured rate of fluid flow is less than a pre-determined value; and wherein the controller (61100) is arranged to re-apply negative pressure to the fluid line if a measured fluid flow upon application of the positive pressure is greater than a pre-determined amount.
