The present invention relates to a dental articulator (1), and more particularly to a device permitting to precisely reproduce movements of the mandible with respect to the maxilla, useful in the production of orthodontic models and dental casts and in the correction of occlusions of natural dentition. Said articulator (1) comprises horizontal baseplate (2), having a front and a rear side, provided at the rear side with generally vertical support means (3), an upper plate (4) holding a maxillary cast or model and a lower plate (5) holding a mandibulary cast or model. The lower plate (5) is connected to said upper plate (4) and it is characterized in that said upper plate (4) is hinged to said vertical support means (3) and can be moved upwardly from a horizontal position to expose both maxillary and mandibulary casts or models and said lower plate (5) is suspended to said upper plate (4) exclusively by means of two couples of elastically extensible means (45,46).

A polycentric hinge joint is provided for simulating the temporomandibular joint of a patient. The polycentric hinge joint comprises a fossae block (48) secured to the upper support member (12) and a condyle member (18) secured to the lower support member (14) which engages a fossae recess (41) in the fossae block (48). A spring (62) is provided for securing the lower support member (14) to the upper support member (12) and simulating the muscles used for mastication. A pair of wires (122) are provided for simulating the ligaments of a patient. The upper end of each wire passes through an opening in the upper support member (12) and the lower end is secured to the lower support member (14). The present invention provides a physiological three-dimensional articulator provided with a mechanism for reproducing movements of an upper jaw position and a lower jaw position, in which the center of rotation of a lower jaw frame provided in the reproducing mechanism for the lower jaw position is operated in the mouth opening and closing movement in the same manner as a rotation of a lower jaw of a human body which permits mouth opening and closing movement while it is moving, and additionally a mechanism for moving the lower jaw frame in the up and down direction simultaneously with the movement of the center of rotation is provided. With this construction, the movement of the lower jaw frame can be simulated to the real movement of the lower jaw in the human body.

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Dubletten eines Modelles mit Retentionsstiften (2) für Zahnersatz angegeben, bei welchem das Modell mit einer Dubliermasse (6) umgeben wird, und bei dem das Modell aus der umhüllenden Dubliermasse (6) entfernt wird und bei dem sodann Einbettmasse (10) in die entstandene Negativform gefüllt und ausgehärtet wird. Um die Herstellung weitgehend fehlerfreier Dubletten zu vereinfachen und um passgenaue Dubletten zu gewinnen, werden in die entsprechenden Ausnehmungen (7) der Negativform vorgefertigte Stifte (8) eingesetzt. Sodann wird die Negativform mit Einbettmasse (10) ausgefüllt, welche sich beim Aushärten fest mit den Stiften (8) verbindet.
