Um eine gleichmäßig durchgehende Lichtzeile auf der lichtempfindlichen Oberfläche (5) zu erzeugen, ist bei den bekannten optischen Druckköpfen eine genaue Justierung der Lichtemissionselemente (3) erforderlich. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Lichtemissionsanordnung (2) zu schaffen, deren Lichtemissionselemente (3) leicht zu fertigen, zu montieren und zu justieren sind. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, daß die lichtemittierende Fläche der Lichtemissionselemente (3) ein Mehrfaches der Länge der auf der lichtempfindlichen Oberfläche (5) zu erzeugenden Lichtpunkte ist, wobei von den Lichtemissionselementen (3) ausgesendeten Lichtbilder durch eine Optik auf der lichtempfindlichen Oberfläche (5) verkleinert abbildbar sind. Hierdurch wird einerseits der Einsatz von lichtunempfindlichen Oberflächen ermöglicht und andererseits ist das Lichtangebot derart erhöhbar, daß Ausgabedruckgeschwindigkeiten bis 100 Blatt pro Minute erreichbar sind.

Die Erfindung befaßt sich mit dem Problem der Justierung der optisch wirksamen Systeme zur insbesondere zeilenweisen Ausgabe von Bildinformationen einer elektrooptischen Vorrichtung für Faksimile-Schreibeinrichtungen, Fernkopierer etc. Sie besteht aus einem elektrisch steuerbaren elektrooptischen Substrat aus lichtdurchlässigem elektrooptischem Material, wobei der optische Effekt durch Anlegen einer Spannung zwischen zwei auf dem Substrat benachbart angeordneten Steuerelektroden gesteuert wird. Erfindungsgemäß ist das Substrat (1) in einem rahmenartigen Gehäuse (17) senkrecht zur Längserstrekkung justierbar angeordnet. Zur Einstrahlung des Lichtes von einer Lichtquelle (37) her ist ein Licht-Querschnittswandler (36) vorgesehen, der mittels eines Kreuzsupports in zwei Richtungen, senkrecht zueinander, verschiebbar angeordnet ist. Hierdurch können die Lichtzeichen des Substrats (1) und die Lichtzeile des Licht-Querschnittswandlers (36) genau parallel zueinander justiert werden.

A thin film light modulator (50) for use in an electro- optic line printer (11). A light valve utilizes a thin electro- optic film (54) on a substrate (52) with the index of refraction of the film being higher than the substrate so that the light can be guided in it. A laser beam (48) is caused to be guided in the film, the beam expanding sideways so that a sheet of collimated light is provided. This light is guided beneath an array of electrodes (58), consisting of an extended set of individually addressed metal fingers. The light diffracted by the electrode set is reimaged onto the recording medium (14), with the zero order diffracted light blocked out, so that each electrode pair acts as a light modulator for one picture element on the output. Alternatively, the zero order is reimaged and the higher order diffraction components are blocked out. By applying each bit of a serial stream of data to the corresponding electrode, a line recording is achieved.

A method of estimating optical correction parameters for an imaging system include pressing an object of known surface topography against an elastomer and imaging a plurality of views of the surface topography of the object through the elastomer. The method also includes estimating a three-dimensional model of the object based on the plurality of views and estimating optical correction parameters based on a known surface topography of the object and the estimated three-dimensional model. The optical correction parameters correct distortions in the estimated three-dimensional model to better match the known surface topography.
