The invention concerns a high-performance threaded tubular joint comprising a first male tubular element (11) and a second female tubular element (12) mutually screwed together. One of the tubular elements (11, 12) comprises an unthreaded lip (38; 5) extending between its thread and its free end and having a sealing surface (40; 7) in sealed contact with the opposite surface (41; 8) of the other element after the first and second tubular elements have been screwed, have expanded and generated elastic return forces. The joint comprises a tubular sleeve (34; 36) slipped on prior to being screwed on the second element (12), positioned to extend substantially axially opposite said lip (3; 5) and, after diametrical expansion, generating an elastic return force which is added to that of the second element to counter the elastic return force of the first element thereby causing the second element to be at least shrunk fitted by the tubular sleeve.

A screw joint for an oil well pipe is equipped with either one, or both, of an inner surface shoulder portion and an outer surface shoulder portion comprising a seal portion and a torque shoulder portion, and satisfies further the following conditions 1 and 2: 1) effective diameter of seal formation surface before fastening is greater on the pin side than on the box side; and 2) inclination of torque shoulder formation surface is smaller on the pin side than on the box side, and difference DELTA theta of the inclinations is at least 0.5 DEG and not greater than 4.0 DEG . The screw joint for the oil well pipe of this invention is excellent in gas sealability and clearance corrosion resistance. The production cost is equal to that of conventional screw joints, and handling is easy, too. This screw joint is extremely suitable for probing and mining of burried matters at a depth and at a higher pressure and burried matters containing high corrosive impurities such as gases and crude oils.

The invention concerns a threaded joint for tubes designed in particular for oil and gas industry and tube assemblies produced from said joint. Said joint comprises a male element (1) arranged at the end of a first tube (3) and a female element (2) arranged at the end of a second tube (4). The male element is provided with an external taper thread and the female element (2) is provided with an internal taper thread corresponding to the male element thread. Central sealing means (9) formed by a male bearing surface and a female bearing surface, resting on each other and arranged respectively in a central zone of the male thread and the female thread where said threads have been interrupted, ensure the sealed condition when the joint is assembled. Said joint and tube assemblies produced from said joint are particularly useful through their sealing property towards high external pressures.
