Die Gebinde (12) werden in horizontaler Förderrichtung (20) stehend auf einer ersten Fördereinrichtung (18) befördert und von dieser an eine zweite Fördereinrichtung (22) übergeben. Diese hält die Gebinde (12) klemmend an ihren beiden gegenüber liegenden Längsseiten, befördert sie über einen Ausschleusabschnitt (26) und übergibt sie an eine dritte Fördereinrichtung (24), wo die Gebinde (12) in horizontaler Förderrichtung (20) stehend zu weiteren Handhabungs-, Verpackungs- und/oder Fördereinrichtungen transportiert werden. Die Erfindung offenbart zudem eine Förder- und Handhabungsvorrichtung (8) für solche Gebinde (12).
