This invention relates to printable polymerizable material systems for making dental products such as artificial teeth, dentures, splints, veneers, inlays, onlays, copings, frame patterns, crowns and bridges and the like. A DLP or stereolithography printer is used to cure polymerizable material in a layer-by-layer manner to build-up the object. The resulting three-dimensional object has good dimensional stability.

A dental instrument comprising: (i) a body including a container (26) having for holding abrasive particles (80), the body having a conduit (64) extending inside the container and in fluid communication with the interior of the container, the conduit including a passageway extending across the boundary of the container to its exterior at a first location, the conduit including a channel extending across the boundary of the container to its exterior at a second location, the conduit extending within the container from the first location of the container toward the second location of the container, the conduit including one opening (66) to provide fluid communication from the interior of the container into the conduit, two apertures (68) disposed between the opening and the second location of the container in fluid communication with the interior of the container; (ii) a restriction (76) formed in the conduit between the opening and the passageway, so that pressurized fluid flowing through the conduit into the container passing the restriction creates a reduced pressure adjacent the opening to draw abrasive particles from the interior of the container into the conduit: abrasive particles are entrained in the pressurized fluid flowing in the conduit toward the apertures. An amount of the particle-laden pressurized fluid flows through the apertures to the interior of the container. The remaining particle-laden pressurized fluid flows past the apertures of the conduit and exit the container.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a dental instrument comprising a drill head (52) connected to a handle, wherein the drill head has an underside and is configured to be inserted into a patient's mouth. A dental bur (20) extends from the underside of the drill head and has a long axis. An imaging device (25, 55) comprising optical components for capturing and processing an image of a drilling treatment area is incorporated in the drill head and has an optical window (53, 82) directly adjacent to the dental bur on the underside of the drill head to minimize an angle between an optical line-of-sight of the imaging device and said long axis of the bur. It has also been discovered that incorporating all optical components in the dental instrument allows for greater flexibility and manoeuvring of an imaging device.
