A lid (1) made of a thermoplastic material for covering an open upper end (42) of a container (40). The lid (1) comprising a lid body (10) with an opening (11) for dispensing and a pull cap (20) having a cap portion (21) to reclose the opening (11) and a pull tab portion (22) integrally formed with the cap portion (21). The opening (11) is covered by a gas-barrier film (23) sealed to a lower surface of the lid body (10). The cap portion (21) is sealed to the gas-barrier film (23) and a clearance (25) is provided between the opening (11) and the outer periphery (15) of the cap portion (21). A method of manufacturing the lid involves inserting the gas-barrier film into a mold cavity, injecting a thermoplastic resin into the cavity to form the lid body, while still warm the molding is removed. After removal, the molding can be thermally shaped along its periphery to form a flange (12) for mounting to a container.

An ophthalmic package (1) is formed by injection molding, having a thick wall with a limited flexible area (22), which limits internal displacement of the walls of the package (1) when squeezed to thereby deliver a certain amount per squeeze. The package has an integrally molded dropper tip, as well as an integrally molded break-off or puncture diaphragm within the tip. At the end of the package opposite the dropper tip is a bottom closure cap (3) which may be snapped into the package. The closure cap (3) includes a "displacement" member of a certain size to extend into the interior of the package (1) thereby taking up space and in so doing reducing the internal volumetric capacity of the package (1). The package (1) may be shaped to facilitate easy gripping and to prevent rolling.

Eine Erhebung (16) in der ebenen Wand (7) des Unterteiles (1) hat an seiner Unterseite ein Durchstossmittel (17) mit der die Folie (F) durchstossen werden kann. Der Behälterinhalt kann nun durch das Loch in der Folie (F) vom Durchstossmittel (7) zur Ausgussöffnung (8) strömen. Der Verschluss ist einfach in der Bedienung und der Herstellung, er stützt die Folie F und kann zudem noch garantiegesichert sein. Er eignet sich besonders für leicht oxidierende Lebensmittel, wie zum Beipiel Ketchup.
