摘要: A conductive spring device (46, Fig. 8) is described, which shorts a pair of connector terminals (14, 16) when the connector (12) is not mated to a second connector device (18). The spring device (46) is of the type having a fixed anchor end (50) connected to a first terminal (14) and an opposite contacting end portion (44) which can pivot in a shorting direction (S) to move outwardly (O) and also sidewardly (A) against the second terminal (16), and which can be forced to pivot in an unshorting direction (U) to move inwardly (I) and sidewardly away (B) from the second terminal (16). An isolator (92) of in sulative material surrounds an inner portion of the second terminal (16), so when the contacting end portion (44) is in its unshorting position, it cannot move sidewardly against the second terminal (16). The spring device (46) is formed of a piece of sheet metal with its anchor end (50) having a hole that closely receives the first terminal (14), the spring device (46) also having a tab (100) which projects inwardly into a slot (102) in the insulative base (28) of the connector (12) to limit pivoting of the spring device (46) about the first terminal (14).

摘要: An electric connector assembly comprising plug and socket connectors adapted to be connected together. The socket connector includes a socket connector housing (10) having an end portion adapted to be received within the receptacle in the plug connector housing (11) and also having parallel passageways (15) defined therein so as to open outwardly from the end portion thereof. Each passageway accommodates therein a socket terminal member (16). A retainer (12) is releasably mounted on the end portion of the socket connector housing (10). This retainer carries at least one contact bridge member (13) engageable with the socket terminal members to establish an electric circuit between the socket terminal members (16) when the socket terminal members have been inserted completely into the passageways and the retainer has been completely mounted on the end portion of the socket connector housing. The plug connector housing (11) having the receptacle (40) defined therein may have an actuator member (14) operable in response to an insertion of the end portion of the socket connector housing (10) into the receptacle to disengage the contact bridge member (13) from the socket terminal members (16) thereby to open an electric circuit between the socket terminal members.

摘要: An electrical shunting contact and method for producing the same for mounting between adjacent first contacts (32) in a first connector (30) and for self-operatively providing a short circuit between the adjacent first electrical contacts when corresponding second contacts (38) of a second connector are demated from the first connector. The electrical shunting contact comprises a conductive member having opposing legs joined by a resilient bridge, each leg having a non-conductive protuberance (22) projecting outwardly therefrom. Under demated conditions, a contact edge (15) of each leg abuts the adjacent first contacts between which the shunting contact is mounted to form a short circuit therebetween and the non-conductive protuberance is disposed in a chamber located just above the first contact. The presence of a second contact forces the legs of the shunting contact to be compressed out of engagement with the first contacts, thereby creating an open circuit between the adjacent first contacts.

摘要: An improved connector (8) for connection to and identification and testing of electric components such as integrated circuits is described which features a number of spring biased contact elements (12) normally in contacting relation with a shorting bar (14). When a particular component (20) is placed in a specified physical relation to the connector (8), a combination of exposed electrical contacts (28) and nonconductive elements (22b) on the component to be tested displace specified ones of the contact members (12) away from the shorting bars (14), providing a connection pattern which can be detected. At the same time, test signals can be applied to the electric component (20) to be tested. The circuit may be identified and its specific parameters identified and characterized in a single operation according to the invention. Advantageously, the shorting bar (14) is grounded so that any static charge on the component (20) to be tested is grounded before the contact elements (12) are displaced from the shorting bar (14).

Diese verbinden die paarweise gegenüberliegenden Anschlußelemente (2) der beiden Reihen unmittelbar. Dadurch kann beim Stecken und Ziehen des Schutzsteckers (5) die elektrische Verbindung zwischen den Anschlußelementen (2) sicher aufrechterhalten werden.
