The transmission power control signal extracting section extracts a transmission power control signal from a reception signal containing a transmission power control signal. The transmission power control signal storage section sequentially stores transmission power control signals output from the transmission power control signal extracting section. The transmission power control determination section determines whether an instruction to increase/decrease transmission power based on a plurality of transmission power control signals stored in the transmission power control signal storage section is repeatedly generated. The transmission power changing section stops transmission power updating operation if the determination result from the transmission power control determination section indicates that the transmission power is repeatedly increased/decreased. A transmission power control method is also disclosed (Fig. 1).

    摘要: A radio communication system comprises a primary station adapted to transmit a series of data packets on a downlink channel to a secondary station. The primary station determines a property relating to the Doppler spread of the downlink channel and uses this property in the determination of suitable parameters for packet transmission. Possible properties from which an indication of the Doppler spread can be derived include the received signal to interference ratio and the transmitted power control commands. Possible parameters for packet transmission include transmission power, modulation and coding scheme, delay before retransmission of a packet received in error, and spreading factor. By determining packet transmission parameters based on uplink signal properties or on transmitted power control commands, the need for the secondary station to measure radio channel properties and signal these to the primary station is removed, thereby reducing signalling traffic and overall interference levels and extending battery life.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for dynamically adjusting the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) threshold used to control signal transmission power in closed loop communication systems. The closed loop power control comprises an inner loop that provides up/down transmission power control commands to a transmitter based upon a comparison of the SIR for a received signal to the threshold SIR. The outer loop dynamically adjusts the threshold SIR using historic inner loop power control information. When it is detected that the inner loop is not acceptably performing power control, the target SIR is not changed, or may be increased or decreased more or less than 0.5 dB or 0.5 dB/99, respectively.
