摘要: An improved cushion for use on a headset has a thin front skin (11) formed with a circumferential groove (16). A thin flexible ring (15) is attached to the circumferential groove. A flexible rear skin (14) supports a foam ring (13) and is sealed to the front skin so as to form a gel space. Structure, such as a retaining ring (18) and mating holes and pins (17), attaches the cushion to the headset in use.

摘要: Headphones have a small cavity (12) between the driver diaphragm (14) and the ear canal with a microphone (11) in the cavity closely adjacent to the diaphragm slightly off the axis of the ear canal and headphone diaphragm with the microphone membrane substantially perpendicular to the headphone driver diaphragm (14). The microphone provides a feedback signal that is combined with the input electrical signal to be reproduced by the headphones to provide a combined signal that is power amplified for driving the diaphragm. The headphone transducer has a small 23mm diameter diaphragm with a maximum excursion of 0.6mm peak-to-peak and a low frequency resonance of 200 Hz. A disk of intracavity damping material (13) inside the cavity isolates the microphone (11) from the ear canal.

摘要: A headset has an earcup (11) with a front opening adapted to be adjacent to the end of the user, a driver (12) inside said earcup, and a cushion (15) formed with an ear opening (15A) to accommodate the ear of a user and is formed with a plurality of openings (16A) around the opening (15A). The plurality of openings (16A) add acoustically the volume of said cushion to the volume of said earcup and enhance passive attenuation. A microphone (17) is inside the earcup adjacent to said driver. Active noise reducing circuitry (30-35) intercouples the microphone and said driver to provide active noise reduction. The cushion (15) with its plurality of openings (16A) furnishes additional damping to help smooth the audio response at the ear of a user and control stability with the headset off the head.

The method includes providing an acoustic block comprising an acoustic driver comprising a voice coil mechanically coupled along an attachment line to an acoustic energy radiating diaphragm, the acoustic block further comprising a microphone positioned along a line parallel to an intended direction of vibration of the acoustic diaphragm and intersecting the attachment line, the acoustic block characterized by a magnitude frequency response compensating the magnitude frequency response by a compensation pattern that has a positive slope over at least one spectral range above 10 kHz.

摘要: A supra aural headphone 10 includes an earphone 12. The earphone has a shell 14 and a cushion 16 mounted on the shell. The cushion and the inside of the shell define an internal cavity 30 behind the cushion, and the cushion has a passageway 28 extending therethrough so as to acoustically connect the internal cavity with a user's ear cavity when the cushion is resting on the user's ear while being worn by the user. The internal cavity 30 has a total volume that is larger than 10 cm³, so as to attenuate passively external sound which leaks through the earphone 12 to the user's ear cavity.
