    摘要: A bidirectional vibratory feeder for transporting objects in a curved path has a trough assembly including an elongated, generally horizontal bed defining the curved path. An exciter mass assembly (62) includes an exciter frame (64) and a vibration generator (66) coupled to the exciter frame (64) for generating vibratory forces. At least one horizontally disposed resilient coupling (82) is connected between the exciter mass assembly (62) and the trough assembly, and at least one vertically disposed link (80) is connected between the exciter mass assembly (62) and the trough assembly. The vibratory forces generated by the vibration generator (66) include a vertical component to cause each point on the trough assembly to translate vertically upward. The vibratory forces also include a horizontal component to cause each point on the trough assembly to rotate along a path lying on an arc of a circle in a horizontal plane. The vibration generator (66) is operable in a first mode to advance the objects in a first direction along the curved path and, in a second mode to advance the objects in a second, generally opposite direction along the curved path.

    摘要: A water blending apparatus for use in conditioning foundry sand. The apparatus creates a vertical sand stream flow path which increases the surface area of the sand stream and allows water to be applied to both sides of the sand stream rather than a single side, as known with conventional water mixing apparatus. In addition, the blending apparatus includes a housing inside which a pair of mixers thoroughly mix the wetted sand. Because the mixers are not positioned in-line with the main sand processing flow, as in conventional apparatus, the mixing time is not dependent upon the speed of the conveyor, and therefore mixing time may be increased. Furthermore, the agitators positioned inside the housing have a more efficient active area since a smaller clearance space is required than with over-the-conveyor style mixing devices, which must avoid contact with the conveyor belt. As a result, the sand may be cooled more quickly due to increased initial water coverage. Furthermore, the sand is cooled to a more uniform temperature since the blending apparatus more thoroughly mixes the sand and water, creating a more uniform moisture content in the sand. Still further, a post-cooling blending device may be used to introduce additional water to the sand stream, thereby activating bentonite or other materials added to the sand, which may require a higher moisture content.

    摘要: A motor base for use in vibratory apparatus. The vibratory apparatus includes at least one eccentric drive (22,32) having a driven shaft (24) rotatably mounted on a moveable exciter (20). A motor (40,50) is provided having a motor shaft (41,51) which is spaced from the eccentric drive and coupled to the eccentric drive by a drive belt (44,54). Rotation of the motor is transferred by the drive belt to the eccentric drive, which generates a vibrational force. The vibrational force moves the exciter in various directions during operation of the vibratory apparatus. The motor base (10,12) comprises a rigid support, such as an arm (61,81), having a free end (62,82) adapted to carry the motor. The arm is supported to move about an axis of the driven shaft, so that the arm maintains a center distance between the motor shaft and the driven shaft. A resilient support, such as a compression spring, is attached to the free end of the arm, below the motor, to absorb any resulting forces acting on the arm from the movement of the exciter. The motor base maintains a center distance between the motor shaft and the driven shaft, thereby increasing drive belt life by minimizing tension variations in the drive belt.
