According to the present invention, the wear condition of a tyre can be known, so that the performance and safety of a vehicle can be improved.

The apparatus comprises a rotational information detecting means (1) for detecting rotational information for each of the tyres, a memory means for storing rotational information of each of the tyres, an arithmetic processing means for respectively calculating reciprocals of rolling radii based on rotations information of tyres attached to a driving shaft (5) as well as judged value based on rotational information of each of the tyres, and an identification means for identifying whether the tyres attached to the driving shaft are summer tyres or winter tyres from a relationship between reciprocals of turning radii and the judged value.

The apparatus comprises a rotational information detecting means for detecting rotational information of each tyre, a memory means for storing the rotational information of each tyre, a calculating means for calculating reciprocals of turning radii based on rotational information of tyres attached to a driving shaft and judged values from the rotational information of each tyre, and a determining means for determining decrease in internal pressure from a relationship between the reciprocals of the turning radii and judged values. Determination of decompression can be reliable performed in the proximity of a region at which the lateral axis is O, since the judged values (DEL values) obtained while the differentiation is restricted are focused at points at which the lateral axis is O, that is, on the vertical axis.

A tyre air-pressure abnormality alarm device for informing decrease in air-pressure of tyres attached to a four-wheeled vehicle, characterised in that the device prohibits start of initialising operations for updating stored values for physical amounts related to tyres or wheels in the case where air-pressures of the tyres are judged to be normal, if air-pressure abnormality of a tyre is being alarmed. Initialisation is accepted only after the internal pressure has become normal, whereby erroneous initialisation with any tyre being in a decompressed condition can be prevented. Thus, normal operations for detecting decompression of a tyre can be maintained.

A method for detecting a tire having a decreased air pressure based on wheel rotation information to be obtained from the tire attached to a vehicle in which there is a predetermined difference between a front wheel load and a rear wheel load. The method includes a step of acquiring the wheel rotation information to be obtained from the tire, a step of storing the wheel rotation information, a step of acquiring a load sensitivity of a tire dynamic loaded radius due to a load shift during a turning, a step of acquiring a speed dependency of the load sensitivity, a step of comparing a load sensitivity of a tire dynamic loaded radius at a speed acquired based on the speed dependency with preliminarily stored load sensitivities of dynamic loaded radiuses of various tires, a step of estimating a decreased pressure sensitivity of the tire dynamic loaded radius based on a result of the comparison, and a step of determining that the tire has a decreased air pressure based on a result of the estimation. The speed dependency is acquired from a change of a front and rear wheel speed ratio.
