An electrostatographic process cartridge (44) is detachably mountable into a cavity (42) defined by mated modules forming parts of an electrostatographic reproduction machine. The process cartridge (44) includes an elongate plastic housing having a first side (102) and a second side (104), as well as an inner surface defining a process chamber (118). It also includes a rotatable photoreceptive member (84) mounted within the process chamber (118) and to the housing and having an image bearing surface for holding a formed toner image; a rotatable developer member (92) mounted to the housing, and forming a critical development gap (220) with the photoreceptive member (84) within the process chamber (118) for enabling jumping toner image development on the image bearing surface; a drive assembly mounted at the second side (104) of the housing for coupling to the photoreceptive member (84); and a gear train (246,250) mounted at the second side of the housing, and coupled to the drive assembly and the developer member (92) for transmitting drive to the developer member (92) . The gear-train (246,250) as mounted including a developer member gear (250), and having a resultant drive force pushing the developer member gear (250) away from the photoreceptive member, thus tending to widen the critical development gap. Importantly, the process cartridge (44) includes a resultant force counter-acting member (240) mounted to the second side of the housing for absorbing the drive resultant force. The resultant force counter-acting member (240) includes a wall and a retaining aperture for precisely retaining the developer member in a predetermined aligned position so as to maintain the critical development gap (220), and thereby ensure uniform quality toner image development.

The roll is used for transporting marking particles to a latent image to form a developed image. The bearing support supports the roll and provides an electrical path between the roll and a voltage source. The bearing support includes a body having a first feature for cooperation with the roll and a second feature for cooperation with the housing. At least one of the first feature and the second feature provides for rotatable motion between the housing and the roll. The bearing support further includes a third feature for providing an electrical path between the roll and the voltage source.

The charging apparatus is operably electrically connectable to a power supply for supplying an electrical bias to the charging apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing (306) and an electrode mounted to the housing and positioned adjacent the surface in a non-contact relationship therewith. The apparatus also includes an electrical connector (330,334), electrically connected to the electrode and electrically connectable to the power supply. The electrical connector provides an electrical bias to said electrode. The electrical connector extends from the electrode and is integral therewith.

The system includes a housing and a member mounted to the housing for advancing the marking particles toward the latent image. The system also includes a first pan securable to the housing and defining a first cavity therebetween. The first cavity defines a first volume. The system also includes a second pan securable to the housing and defining a second cavity therebetween. The second cavity defines a second volume substantially different than the first volume. The housing, the member and the first pan are assemblable to form a first process cartridge including the first volume.
